A beautiful, and very heartwarming service was held on Monday, at Hayfield Cemetery, for a very much loved and doting family woman, Mrs Williamina Higgins or Minnie as she was known to everyone. On a radiant May Day, the sun cast its warm glow as Minnie bid farewell to her family home for the last time. She embarked on her final journey, met at the cemetery gates by a gathering of family and friends who came to honour and express their love for this remarkable lady. Piper Ben Foy played a solemn tune, leading Minnie and her congregation to her resting place. Mr. Neil Dorward conducted the service and eloquently spoke, capturing the essence of Minnie’s well-lived life. It was evident that Minnie was cherished by all, and her primary purpose in life was to care for her family. Paddy, one of Minnie’s sons, recited a heartfelt poem written by the family, in memory of his mother. He did so very well and I’m sure his mum would be looking feeling ever so proud. Ally, the Funeral Director, summoned the cord bearers as the piper began to play “Amazing Grace.” Minnie’s closest family gently lowered her to the graveside, where

The cortege then took a slow drive past the Victoria Hospital, where Michael had worked as a paramedic for most of his life. Many of his former friends and colleagues lined the street to pay their respects. A lovely service was held yesterday at Hayfield Cemetery, for a very much loved Kirkcaldy man, taken far too soon from this world, Mr David Dodds or Tiger as he was known to most. David’s loving family gathered outside his family home, as he arrived there one last time, before following him on his final journey to the cemetery. David was met there by many of his family and friends, and it was clear to see how very well thought of he was by everyone who knew him. The service was conducted by Mr Stuart Struthers, who delivered an excellent eulogy of David. There were tears but also lots of laughter, at some of the happy memories regaled from over the years. The family were then called upon as the cord bearers, to gently lower David into his final resting place. The congregation were then asked to gather their thoughts and think about their own special memories of David in a quiet moment of reflection, as they listened to ‘The Skye Boat Song’, by the Corries, some of the congregation joined in, swaying and singing along . After Stuart delivered his lovely words of committal, ‘I Would Do Anything for

Derick’s loving family gathered outside his family home, as he arrived there one last time, before following him on his final journey to the crematorium. Derick was met there by many of his family and friends, and it was clear to see how very well respected he was by everyone who knew him. ‘There Goes My Everything’ by Elvis Presley, played softly in the background as Derick was brought into the chapel with great dignity and respect. The service was conducted by Mr Denis Madden, who delivered an excellent eulogy of Derick. A lovely service was held on Wednesday at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, for a very special, and much loved Kirkcaldy man, Mr Ronald Johnston, or Ron as he was known to many. Ron was already at rest in the crematorium chapel, as his loved ones gathered to pay their last respects. ‘La Donna e Mobile’ by Luciano Pavarotti, played in the background, as the large congregation were guided to their seats. Mr Neil Dorward conducted the service and delivered a very fitting eulogy of Ron. On a day that was never going to be easy, Ron’s loved ones did manage a smile or two at some of the happy memories shared from over the years. Everyone had a moment of reflection, a chance to think about their own special memories of Ron, as they listened to ‘Tears in Heaven’ by Eric Clapton. After Neil’s words of committal, and the service came to an end, ‘Pride & Joy’ by Stevie Ray Vaughan played the congregation out of the chapel. There was an opportunity to donate to the Victoria Hospice on leaving. Ron’s floral tribute was a beautiful Scottish themed bouquet, tied with red ribbon, which looked just stunning. On the day that would have been Marjory’s 93rd birthday, her forever loving family gathered at her home, as she arrived there one last time, before following her on her final journey to the crematorium. She was met at the crematorium by many of her family and friends, all there to show their love that they had for this wonderful lady. “We are Sailing” by Rod Stewart, played softly in the background as Marjory was brought into the chapel, by the funeral directors with great dignity and respect. We came across this beautifully written piece today, which we think portrays the role of a Funeral Director amazingly well. It also makes us feel immensely proud of what we do 🙏🦋 Guiding Souls: The Sacred Role of a Funeral Director. Compassion in the Shadows In the quietude of sorrow, we emerge—a steady presence when the world trembles. Our role transcends mere logistics; it’s a ministry of empathy. We listen to whispered stories—the laughter shared over morning coffee, the secrets exchanged under moonlit skies. These narratives weave the fabric of a life, and we honour them. Crafting Tributes With gentle hands, we mould memories into tangible forms. Eulogies become brushstrokes, painting portraits of resilience. Floral arrangements whisper love’s enduring bloom. Caskets cradle dreams once held. Each detail matters—a hymn chosen, a photograph placed just so. In these acts, we channel compassion into artistry. The Dance with Mortality Death, our constant companion, teaches humility. It whispers, “Life is fleeting; love is eternal.” We witness the fragility of existence—the ephemeral dance of souls. And so, we honour the departed, not as numbers on a ledger, but as custodians of stories, laughter, and tears. Thresholds and Transitions As families gather in hallowed halls,

A touching and heartfelt service was held on Thursday, at Hayfield Cemetery, for a very well known Kirkcaldy man, Mr Sandy Bairstow. The rain managed to stay away, as Sandy arrived at the family home one last time, before setting off on his final journey. A very large congregation gathered at the cemetery gates to pay their respects, before following him up to his resting place, with a piper playing Amazing Grace. ‘In My Life’ by The Beatles’ then played as Sandy was carried over to the graveside with great dignity and respect. Mr Neil Dorward conducted a very uplifting service, and it has to be said he spoke beautifully and gave a lovely insight into Sandy’s well lived life. On this very sad day, tears could be heard from all around the graveside, but as Neil continued to share precious memories, there were some beautiful moments of laughter. Sandy was quite a character and loved by so many. The congregation were then asked to join together in a moment of reflection as they listened to a favourite of Sandy’s, ‘Lead Me, Guide Me’’ by Elvis, afterwards eight of Sandy’s loved ones came forward to assist in the lowering of

For many of us Mother’s day means flowers, days out, meals and gifts for our mums. Whilst I am so fortunate to have my mum who I am forever grateful for, and everything she has done for me and blessed to watch my wife be the best mum to my little girl and step mum to my oldest girl. I know and appreciate, this is not the case for everyone. In this job, it has made me look on this day from a different perspective. I’ve witnessed so many people grieve over loss of motherly figures in their life, who cannot be with them on this day, in result, they think of their loved one in heaven. This day, for many of us is loss of our mums and grans, for other mums is a tragic reminder of children they’ve lost and for some women it’s is a reminder that they may never be blessed with children. For others it’s a reminder of the rejection from their mother. We should celebrate today, celebrate all the beautiful mums, grans, great-grans and every single person playing that motherly role! However we should also be aware that this is not a happy day

A lovely service was held on Wednesday at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, for a very much loved man and a true gentleman, Mr Peter Johncock. Peter’s loving family arrived at the crematorium, meeting him in the driveway. As the hearse pulled forward, Barbara Streisand’s ‘Evergreen’ began to play. The congregation of family, friends and loved ones were then asked to come forward and make their way into the chapel. It was so nice to see so many people attending the service to show their respects to this well-loved and very much respected gentleman. Draped in the flag of the Submariners, Peter was then brought into the chapel by his nearest and dearest. The carrying of a coffin is a great honour for anyone, and one which Peter’s loved ones performed with great dignity. The service was conducted by Mr Neil Dorward, who spoke beautifully and gave an excellent eulogy of this mans well lived life, we heard all about his life in Submariners and the unconditional love he had for his family.
