A beautiful service was held on Tuesday at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, for a very well respected, and much loved man, Mr John Horn. John’s loving family gathered outside his home in Kirkcaldy, where he had stayed for many years, before following him on his final journey to the crematorium. John was met at the crematorium by a large congregation of family and friends, a true sign of how loved this man was. ‘I Try’ by Macy Gray played softly in the background as John was brought into the chapel, carried by the men closest to him, in his bespoke Celtic themed coffin. Mr Denis Madden conducted a beautiful service and gave a very fitting eulogy, which portrayed John’s life perfectly. On a day that was never going to be easy, John’s loved ones did manage a smile or two at some of the happy memories shared from over the years. We heard all about his time working on the Morris Minor, his passion for his beloved Celtic Football Club, but most importantly his love for his family and his beloved partner Elaine. Everyone had a quiet moment of reflection, a chance to think of their own special memories of John, as

A beautiful service was held on Wednesday at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, for a very special and much loved man, taken far too soon, Mr Harry Meldrum. Harry’s loving family gathered outside his Kirkcaldy home, as he arrived there one last time. The sound of the pipes could be heard all around, as Steven from Scotia Pipers and Christiane paged the cortege through the streets of Seafield, before taking him on his final journey to the crematorium. Stevie piped once more down the driveway, where a huge congregation of family, friends and colleagues had gathered to pay their respects. This was a true sign of how very well thought of Harry was to all who knew him. ‘Caribbean Queen’ by Billy Ocean, played softly in the background as the large congregation made their way into the chapel, with many having to stand due the enormity of people. ‘Cherish’, by Kool & the Gang played through the speakers, as Harry was brought in with great dignity and respect by the Funeral Directors. Mr Scott Burton conducted a beautifully heartwarming service and delivered a eulogy which gave a lovely insight into Harry’s well lived life. There were lots of tears, but also lots of

On a bright, beautiful day Alice’s devoted loved ones gathered outside the family home, as she arrived there one last time, before following her on her final journey to the crematorium. The large congregation of family and friends watched on as Alice was led down the crematorium driveway by a piper. ‘End of the World’ by The Carpenters played softly in the background, as Alice’s loving family made their way into crematorium chapel. ‘Put Your Head on my Shoulder’ by Paul Anka then started to play and the gentlemen in Alice’s life were then called upon to carry her into the chapel. The men did ever so well, and I imagine Alice would have been looking down with immense pride. Mr Scott Burton, conducted a beautiful service, and delivered a eulogy which gave a lovely insight into Alice’s well lived life. GALLATOWN OPEN PAIRS TOURNAMENT

Was a privilege once again for Ian Johnston Funeral Directors to be sponsoring the Gallatown Bowling Clubs Open Pairs Tournament this year. After years of watching the tournament, Ally figured it was about time he got involved and played in the tournament.

“It was a fantastic day, so very well organised. With it being my first tournament, everyone was so helpful and offering pieces of advice here and there. Each year I’m always amazed by the range of age groups, I was far from the youngest there anyway. Was over the moon when myself and Liam, won our first two games, but then we came across the Club Champion and his partner and they brought us back down to reality😂. The standards are so very high! Would like to thank everyone in the organisation of the day, thoroughly enjoyed myself and already looking forward to next year.”

Congratulations to all the winners and everyone involved in making such a fantastic event 👍.

Being aware of fake streams!

As we understand it, fraudulent social media pages are sending friend requests and falsely advertising that they offer live streams of funerals -requesting payment from mourners to access the fake “stream”.

The fraud has no apparent pattern in its selection of funerals to mimic – some are at funeral venues that have a genuine streaming provider (mostly Obitus), while others are at venues that don’t offer streaming. This means it’s a scam that could target any funeral, not necessarily those that have requested a genuine live stream.

It’s deplorable that they are trying to take advantage of people at such a vulnerable time.

A beautiful service was held on Friday at Kirkcaldy Crematorium, for a very well respected, and much loved lady, Mrs Isobel Anderson. Isobel’s loving family gathered outside her home, where she had stayed for many years, before following her on her final journey to the crematorium. Isobel was met at crematorium by a large congregation of family and friends, all there to show the love and respect they had for this lady. Organ music played softly in the background as Isobel was brought into the chapel by the Funeral Directors, going past many members from the Trefoil Guild who stood in an alignment and gave a guard of honour to Isobel. It was nice to see and so respectful, nothing short of what this wonderful lady deserved. The service was conducted by Rev. Stewart Mcpherson, who throughout spoke beautifully and gave a lovely insight to Isobel’s well lived life. There were smiles and some tears at the stories regaled, Isobel was clearly a special lady and so very dearly loved by all that knew her. We heard all about her time in the Trefoil, being a treasurer for Fife & Tayside Caravan Park, the commitment she gave to the Abbotshall

A lovely Funeral Service was held on Wednesday at Freuchie Parish Church, followed by a committal service at Falkland Cemetery, for a very special and much loved gentleman, Mr Robert Hunter. The rain managed to stay away, as Robert returned to his Kirkcaldy home one last time, before him and his loved ones made their way to Freuchie for the service. A massive congregation of mourners were waiting to meet him outside The Albert Tavern, the pub which Robert had owned for many years. Christiane and Steven from Scotia Pipers paged the huge procession along the High Street to Freuchie Parish Church, where another large congregation were already waiting to pay their respects. The enormity of the congregation showed just how very well thought of Robert was by everyone who knew him, and I’m sure it must have been very comforting for his family to see. ‘Have I Told You Lately’ by Van Morrison played softly in the background as Robert was brought into the church with great dignity and respect. Rev. Jeff Martin conducted the service, he spoke beautifully throughout, and began the service by asking everyone to join in together by singing the first hymn, ‘Abide with Me’.

A touching and heartfelt service was held yesterday, at Bowhill Cemetery, for a very well-known Cardenden man, gone from this world far too soon, Mr Russell Johnstone, or Russ as he was known to most. The sun shone warm and bright, as Russell arrived at the family home one last time. A vast congregation of family and friends had gathered, their presence a testament to the love and respect they held for this wonderful man. The piper began to play as he, the Funeral Director and Father Chris, led the cortege on the short walk to the cemetery. As the cortege made its way through Main Street, more and more people joined the growing mourners. Despite the sorrow that hung heavy in the air, the resilient community spirit of the people of Cardenden shone brightly. Father Chris conducted a very uplifting service, and it must be said he spoke beautifully and gave a lovely insight into Russell’s life. On this very sad day, tears could be heard from all around the graveside, but as Father Chris continued to share precious memories, there were some beautiful moments of laughter. Russell was quite a character and loved by so many. Father Chris
